Response to Haiti

The Rotary Club of Uxbridge has reacted quickly to the crisis in Haiti by donating a Shelterbox to the relief effort. The Shelterbox organization, which is closely associated with Rotary International, has already sent over 10,000 boxes to Haiti and most of those are now set up or in the process of being set up.  There has also been a great response with Water Boxes, purification systems and water supply materials, much of which has been sent through Rotary in Haiti and the Haiti Water Commission.

Please visit www.shelterbox.ca for more information and daily updates. Individuals who want to help can contribute directly to Shelterbox through the web site.

The Uxbridge Club has also allocated $2500 in funds to match $2500 in donations made directly to Shelterbox by individual club members. The matching funds will be allocated directly to a longer term project for Haiti.

We continue to review our response to this crisis and will post updates on this page.

We are conducting our second annual scrap metal drive in the parking lot of the Uxbridge Arena on Saturday, April 24th. We will have bins available to accept just about anything metal including: lawn furniture, pop and food cans (bagged), appliances, BBQs, pots, pans, TV towers, metal windows and bed frames, lawn mowers, wiring, auto parts, metal pink flamingos and many other items.
